Brie Larson Was A Teen Pop Star Before She Became Your Biggest Crush

Brie Larson is a great actress and a lovely person. NO ONE DENIES THIS. She’s not known for a single role, but rather, a whole slew of them: Grace from Short Term 12, Molly from 21 Jump Street, Envy from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Kate from United States of Tara, Rachel from Community, and, of course, the woman who didn’t make Rafi wear a condom from The League. But before all that, hell, before she starred in the sitcom most people associate Bob Saget with, Raising Dad, Larson was a Radio Disney pop star.

Try to make sense of this.

Yup, that’s our Queen Brie, performing her hit single, “She Said,” from the 2005 album, Finally Out of P.E. FINALLY. From an interview she did with the Pulitzer Prize-winning Kidz World:

Sindy: Who are your musical influences?

Brie Larson: I have a lot of different influences. Everything from Maroon 5, Gwen Stefani, The Clash, Kanye West – just a lot of different artists.

Sindy: What are you going to bring to Hollywood and the music industry that other young female pop stars haven’t?

Brie Larson: I think that I write about stuff that others don’t write about. I don’t have a bunch of love songs cuz I don’t really have much boy experience. I just write about what I am actually going through in my real life. That’s where the title from my album comes from – Finally Out of P.E. My P.E. teacher didn’t like me at all, which was hard to deal with cuz I was usually such a teachers’ pet. So when I found out I got my record deal, I was like, “Yes, I’m finally out of P.E.”

I love that “because” was transcribed as “cuz,” cuz that’s how the kidz talk. Anyway, despite having the “99th best-selling CD single in the country in 2005” and being added to Teen People’s Rock in Shop Tour, Finally Out of P.E. only sold about 4,000 copies. You missed out, teens.
