When Saturday Night Live fans haven’t been staring at Cecily Strong waiting for her to have a “F*ck it, I quit!” moment on the air over her Weekend Update ouster, they have had their eyes trained on Pete Davidson. And so far the 20-year-old rookie hasn’t disappointed.

When the show returned for its 40th season, it was Davidson who got the most acclaim, winning an internet standing ovation for his pro-prostitution desk bit. On Saturday, when everyone was justifiably giddy over the job that Bill Hader did in his return, it was Davidson who most stood out from the current cast with his leading role in The Group Hopper sketch.

Seizing on the young comic’s fast start and this brief moment before top explorers track down the talisman that will unlock Kate McKinnon’s true comedic ferocity, NBC took some time to show the more cuddly side of Davidson in a web-exclusive AskSNL Q&A. Davidson talks about Bill Burr’s comedic genius, his love for the fire emoji, and his willingness to penetrate a bagel.

With the show’s 40th season in full swing, something makes me think that we’re going to see a lot more behind-the-scenes content like this, but my hope is that classic cast members get involved too. I really want to know what emoji Jon Lovitz favors most, not to mention which breakfast food David Koechner would prefer to sleep with.
