Joaquin Phoenix Professed His Love For Amy Poehler On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Last Night

Joaquin Phoenix is still on the interview circuit promoting Inherent Vice, and last night’s stop was on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Phoenix is also up for a Golden Globe for his performance in the film, which Jimmy reminded him is his fifth nomination. He didn’t so much want to talk about that, though, because I’m getting the impression that the only thing Joaquin Phoenix hates more than going on talk shows is attending awards shows, so he quickly and bizarrely changed the subject to Amy Poehler. Poehler of course is co-hosting the Globes for the third consecutive year with Tina Fey, and if you believe what Joaquin Phoenix says he has a huge crush on her. (Note: never believe Joaquin Phoenix.)

Some women might be a little thrown off by Joaquin Phoenix basically confessing to having a crush on them, but I’m guessing if anything this will only provoke Amy Poehler to step up her game on Sunday, which is a good thing for everybody.

Because it’s fun at how little of a crap Joaquin Phoenix gives about awards shows, here’s the second part of the interview in which he elaborates. Some of what he says actually sounds genuine — as genuine as anything Joaquin Phoenix says, anyway:

Finally, because this was just too f*cking bizarre not to include, Joaquin Phoenix somehow figured out that the Jimmy Kimmel Live guest couch is a sofabed. What is happening here?? Was this staged? I have no idea. Never change, Joaquin Phoenix.
