There are few people I love in this world like I love Jimmy Fallon. Maybe it’s due in part to his romcom days with Drew Barrymore, maybe it’s because he had the privilege of sitting three feet away from Tina Fey at the Weekend Update desk every Saturday night or maybe it’s because he seems to have this knack for convincing celebrities to do some weird ass sh*t on his late night talk show. Case in point: his epic Lip Sync Battles.

The segment, which pits Fallon against whoever’s lucky enough to sit on his couch that night, consists of two competitors battling it out as they’re asked to mouth along to a popular tune of their choice. Who can forget Emma Stone’s legendary rendition of Blue’s Traveler’s “Hook” (she also cleaned up with a DJ Khaled song) and Paul Rudd’s Tina Turner impersonation?

Well, Spike’s certainly hoping you didn’t forget. The network ordered 10 episodes of the comedy act back in November and now they’ve made everything official by finding the show’s new host: LL Cool J. The rapper turned actor has been tapped to referee the competition-style series which will follow the same format as the original Fallon sketch. Cool J will also be producing the show, along with Fallon, John Krasinski and Stephen Merchant and he seems pretty happy about it:

Like the rest of the world, I’m a big fan of these battles, but this show is going to bring it to a whole new level. I’m thrilled to be working with Jimmy Fallon, John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant, and the entire team to host the show and can’t wait for the fans at home to join in!!

The show is slated to premiere this April.
