Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, And Several Stars Sang ‘We Are The Champions’ (A Cappella) On ‘The Tonight Show’

Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon got the chance to take full advantage of NBC’s stewardship of the Super Bowl, popping up several times during the pre-game festivities with pre-recorded bits that included a pile of puppies picking the winner of the big game and Fallon’s benign riffs on both teams and NBC’s sportscasters with Tonight Show Superlatives.

All of this served as an appetizer to Fallon’s biggest contribution to NBC’s mega-night — a live episode of The Tonight Show that featured Ariana Grande and both Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell coincidentally appearing together in advance of their new cinematic joint venture (Get Hard) to challenge Fallon to a lip syncing competition. And since this was a special episode, Fallon clearly wanted more star power. So he invited Sam Smith, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, One Direction, Carrie Underwood, Grande, The Roots, Usher, and more music stars to sing an a cappella version of Queen’s “We Are The Champions” while echoing the Brady Bunch title sequence (and Fallon and The Roots’ version of “We Can’t Stop” with Miley Cyrus from 2013).

Check out the above video with all of the fake reactions to what people are doing in other boxes during the song (we know you’re not in the same room, Jimmy!) and some diva-riffic vocals by Aguilera, who seems to absolutely take over near the end.
