George R.R. Martin Has Opinions About How To Survive A Zombie Attack On ‘The Walking Dead’

Now that George R.R. Martin has canceled future convention appearances this year, you’d think he’s fully focused on writing Winds of Winter. Well, maybe not, as he recently revealed that he’s catching up on The Walking Dead, on binges of up to 14 episodes in a row (THAT’S VALUABLE WRITING TIME, GEORGE).

The good news, however, is that Martin now has an OPINION on how to survive The Walking Dead, as he explained to Entertainment Weekly:

“Castles! Whatever is happening in the United States during The Walking Dead, I’m sure they’re a lot better off in England because they’re in castles. If they had any brains, they’d go to the existing castles and reinforce the walls. They can patrol on the bulwarks. No way is a zombie [getting through]—medieval siege armies couldn’t break castles with conventional artillery, and zombies don’t use artillery. Zombies don’t build trebuchets. They don’t build siege towers. There is no way they can break into a well-defended castle.”

Sure, I suppose it would be helpful to bunker up in a castle, but instead of being AMC’s The Walking Dead, it’d just be MTV’s Real World: Zombie Apocalypse. Nobody wants to watch that show.

On the bright side, does this mean that notorious lover of Castles, Nic Cage, is probably alive in The Walking Dead universe? Kirkman should send out a casting offer. Cage is not known for turning down roles. After all, he has castles to pay for.
