If you’ve been following HBO’s The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, then you know by now that last night’s finale of the six-part series ended in an apparent confession by its subject, Robert Durst. Coincidentally, Durst was arrested by the FBI on Sunday in connection to the murder of Susan Berman. Because the interviews that the filmmakers conducted with Durst took place about three years ago, many are wondering when and if there was any contact with law enforcement since real evidence of a 15-year-old homicide was being discovered. One of the filmmakers, Andrew Jarecki, appeared on Good Morning America this morning to discuss the timeline of the two interviews that took place, as well as the crew’s involvement with the authorities.
One thing that Jarecki assures the audience is that the arrest was not timed to be a ratings stunt for last night’s finale, so maybe that’s just an example of how the phrase “you couldn’t make this stuff up” works.
