What’s On Tonight: ‘American Crime’ And ‘The Dig’ Premiere And ‘Archer’ Knocks Everyone Out

Archer

American Crime (ABC, 10:00 p.m.) — John Ridley, screenplay writer of 12 Years a Slave, writes and directs the first episode of this lush miniseries about a murder and the way it ripples through several families and communities. Felicity Huffman (who stars as the mother of the victim) appeared on Late Night last night, and she talked about how this show really feels like something that would push the envelope even for cable. That’s not a new claim for someone to make on a press tour for a TV show, but one of these days, it’s gotta be true. Maybe this is that day.

Archer (FX, 10:00 p.m.) — Slater has Archer and the gang cheat the Durhani royal family.

Dig (USA, 10:00 p.m.) — Jason Isaacs explores deep and dark secrets in the Holy Land while trying to find out who killed a young American. Anne Heche, Lauren Ambrose, and Richard E. Grant co-star in this event series.

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC, 8:00 p.m.) — Time to operate on Geena Davis’ characters brain to remove her tumor and suppress all memories of her time as super assassin Charly Baltimore.

The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8:00 p.m.) — Sheldon angers Amy when she finds out that he wants to go to Mars because she’s from Venus (’90s cultural references are the best).

The Slap (NBC, 8:00 p.m.) — I’m losing interest. Someone slap Peter Sarsgaard’s character.

Scandal (ABC, 9:00 p.m.) — In the midst of a national tragedy, the vice president needs to get handled.

The Blacklist (NBC, 9:00 p.m.) — Red hits the auction block, Tom comes back, and Lance Henriksen stops by to challenge James Spader to a shady cool guy competition.

Mom (CBS, 9:30 p.m.) — Bonnie and Christy’s friend Regina has returned from prison and she’s a new woman, though not literally. Also, Jaime Pressly returns to play Jill. Jill hasn’t changed and why would she? She’s Jill. Jill’s got this.

LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Naomi Watts and Carly Rae Jepsen on Kimmel; Jane Lynch joins Drew Carey on The Late Late Show; Hugh Jackman and Tiffani Thiessen on Fallon; Jada Pinkett Smith, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Robert Smigel on Meyers; and Adam Sandler and Jonathan Banks on Conan.
