A ‘Big Bang Theory’ Co-Creator Is Working On The ‘Muppet Show’ Reboot

This morning, we mentioned that ABC is reportedly working on a new Muppets show, the first since Muppets Tonight was canceled in 1998. We’ve since received confirmation that if the pilot presentation is successful, claims the Hollywood Reporter, it “could go straight to series.”

The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady is co-writing the script for a pilot presentation that sources say could be unspooled at May’s upfront presentation to Madison Avenue advertisers. Sources tell THR that the project, if all goes well, could go straight to series.

Simpsons, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Anger Management writer Bob Kushell (the first two are more promising than the third) is attached as showrunner, while It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia‘s Randall Einhorn will direct. As for what the presentation will look like: Kermit, Gonzo, and other fan favorites will gather at ABC Studios (META) “for a meeting about the new Muppet Show, however, the show won’t move forward unless Miss Piggy signs on — only her current relationship with frequent love Kermit is on the rocks preventing that from happening.” Two celebrity cameos are rumored, and if one isn’t Coolio, shut it down.

Can’t believe that show didn’t last longer.
