Here Are All The Times Daenerys Proved She Was The Biggest Badass On ‘Game Of Thrones’

For six seasons, Emilia Clarke has won over Game of Thrones fans as Daenerys Targaryen, AKA Khaleesi, AKA the Mother Of Dragons, AKA the breaker of chains and the unburnt — Dany’s got a lot of names, is my point, but one label fits better than all the rest: Badass. Dany is known for not taking crap from anyone, and generally not suffering fools too well. She’ll lock you in a Valyrian stone vault, look on approvingly while you get a golden crown, and if you cross her, she might have to remind you about her not-so-baby dragon babies. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at some of her most memorable quotes and the moments where Khaleesi made it abundantly clear that she was not to be messed with.

When she gave this very serious ultimatum.

When Viserys tries to strong-arm Daenerys and slaps her, he quickly learns that he’s messing with the Khaleesi. Frankly, he got off easy… this time.

When she gave every man in the world this unfortunate reminder.

The phrase “valar morghulis,” which translates to “all men must die,” plays a prominent role in the series. In the above scene, Daenerys points out that it doesn’t actually apply to women after Missandei dismisses the risks of going to war with a matter-of-fact recitation of the phrase. Looks like Daenerys found a loophole.

When she gave us the understatement of the century.

This pretty much confirms what every single thing that Khaleesi has said and done over the course of the show has told us about her: she’s a lot of things, but gentle isn’t one of them.

When she made it abundantly clear exactly what her agenda was.

This just makes me wish Game Of Thrones had been on the air when I was in high school. Can you imagine a more badass yearbook quote than “I will take what’s mine with fire and blood?” As Larry Wilmore pointed out, there’s another famous woman with similar ambitions.

When she says she has your back, she means it.

She’s also going to hear you scream when you wrong her.

When she gave us an important lesson about how dragons work.

I mean that’s just Dragons 101, right? “Fire cannot kill a dragon,” I learned that the first day of my How To Train Your Dragon class.

When she made her grand ambitions clear to the world.

How no one has repeated this line on My Super Sweet 16 is beyond me. Also, it’s another great yearbook line; certainly better than that Wayne Gretzky “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” thing.

When she made it quite clear that she was the boss:

What’s more harsh: her words or that glare?

When she used her dragon as a weapon.

Attack dragons. Nuff said.

Finally, when she made it clear that she’d always be there for her dragons.

More like Helicopter Mother Of Dragons, amirite?
