All The Times Ders Failed To Keep It ‘Tight Butthole’ On ‘Workaholics’

While watching Workaholics, it’s easy to notice that Anders is clearly the most responsible of the group. In all likelihood, if it wasn’t for him, Adam and Blake would be unemployed and wandering the streets of Rancho Cucamonga like the lost children they are. While Anders is generally a righteous dude, there have been numerous times throughout the series when he’s put his own interests first and betrayed the trust of his perpetually stoned roommates.

With today being Anders Holm’s birthday, let’s look back at some of the times Ders failed to keep it tight butthole.

Anders steals Adam’s modeling career.

When Alice needs a “hot as balls” male model, Adam pushes hard for the job, going so far as to actually wear a mesh shirt in public at a model search. Like many times in his life, though, his dreams never get off the ground because the modeling agent takes an interest in Anders, leaving Adam to strike his blue steel pose for nobody. Crushing a friend’s dreams… definitely not tight butthole.

Anders moves in on Adam’s woman.

In all honesty, Adam needed an intervention to address his new life as an older woman’s sex toy. The guy sleeps with one cougar and instantly drops his friends, leaving them one wizard short for their Renaissance rap show. While Ders’ effort to reclaim his friend is commendable, the way in which he does so — by trying to bang Adam’s woman — certainly breaks their bro code.

R.A. Anders and his two-person sh*t list.

In the episode “Flashback in the Day,” we got a glimpse into the guys’ earlier lives, and it’s instantly clear that both Adam and Anders are pretty terrible. Adam can’t seem to stop jerking off in the presence of others, while Anders is on a power trip and attempts to steal Blake’s microwave. Really, everyone involved here, except Blake, is operating on a high level of loose butthole douchery.

Ders lets power go to his head.

In the Season 1 episode “The Promotion,” each of the guys tries to win Alice over for the sales supervisor position, with Anders successfully brown-nosing her enough to win the gig. The power instantly goes to his head, though, and he belittles everyone in the office. Like Icarus, he flew too close to the TelAmeriCorp sun and paid the price by waking up with a bike lock around his neck.

Anders bails on Half-Christmas.

Half-Christmas is a glorious holiday that should really be adopted nationally, but probably never will because it’s not productive and people can only take so much Christmas music. Alice fails to see the cheer in the guys’ made-up holiday and orders them back to work, which leads them to go on strike. Naturally, Anders is the first to cave and quickly returns to work. While this was obviously a smart move, it’s a display of betrayal in the eyes of Adam and Blake.

Anders traumatized Adam for life.

Anders lives out his longtime fantasy of sleeping with Alice in the episode “Fry Guys,” which turns out to be as sexually fulfilling for Anders as visiting a sperm bank. The scene delivers one of the series’ golden moments of gross-out humor when Adam, who’s hiding under the desk, accidentally uses the tissue that Anders cleaned up with. So, not only did Ders steal Adam’s unrequited love, but he literally has the offense rubbed in his face.

’80s trivia no-show.

Because Anders had neglectful parents, he was raised in front of the TV and thus possesses a deep knowledge of ’80s pop culture. While it may be useless for much of life, it makes him a secret weapon when the guys go up against a group of modern Better Off Dead nerds for ’80s trivia. In typical Anders fashion, though, he bails on the guys to secretly interview for a supervisor position at another TelAmeriCorp branch. It’s a very ’80s nerd move and very loose butthole.

O’Ders rules and Adam pays the price.

Somehow, Anders manages to convince some Swedish girls to visit him, and he must choose whether to allow Adam or Blake to accompany him on a double date. In one of Anders more twisted moments, he decides to make his pick by seeing which of his friends will subject themselves to the most pain. It’s Adam, of course, and Blake is chosen for his pro skater looks while Adam is left in shirtless misery.
