CNN Anchor Fredricka Whitfield Calls Dallas Gunman ‘Courageous And Brave’ On The Air

There’s a poor choice of words and then there’s what Fredricka Whitfield said during CNN’s coverage of the insane Dallas Police shootout from Saturday. Whitfield was talking about the situation with criminal defense attorney Philip Holloway when she used the words “courageous and brave” to describe the attack on Dallas Police:

“It was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters, and now you have this scene, this standoff. So you believe these are the hallmarks of more than one person’s involvement.”

It’s easy to get completely upset with the language at play, but it was more a reference to the act being gutsy and brazen as opposed to admirable. That’s an assumption, of course, but I would find it hard to believe that a very public CNN anchor would be praising the act of someone who attempted to kill police.

According to Mediaite, Whitfield apologized for her comments on the air during her Sunday telecast.
