Weekend Preview: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Ends Its Season, LeBron Tries To Keep His Alive, And ‘OITNB’

Game of Thrones
(HBO, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) — The episode title is “Mother’s Mercy” and the notes mention Dany (who was so memorably rescued by Drogon last week) and Cersei (who is still trying to find a way to free herself from a cage) — two mothers, of a kind. And that’s nice and everything, but I won’t believe that we aren’t in for some Lady Stoneheart action until I see the Silicon Valley main theme at 10:01.

NBA Finals (ABC, Sunday 8:00 p.m.) — The Cavs are tied with the Warriors 2-2 in the NBA Finals and LeBron’s wingmen are Hot Rod Williams, a Craig Ehlo bobblehead, Matty Dellavedova, and a raffle winner. If he’s able to rally his team back against the Warriors, I believe he will actually be named King of Cleveland, with all rights and privileges that belong to that title. The climb begins Sunday night in Game 5.

Orange is the New Black (Netflix, Already Available) — In case you didn’t know, OITNB is back, but I have a strong sense that you’re reading this on your phone while it streams in the background.

Defiance (Syfy, Friday 8:00-10:00 p.m.) — Behold, original content on a Friday night as Defiance comes back for its third season.

Orphan Black (BBC America, Saturday 9:00 p.m.) — Just two episodes until the season three finale. This time, everybody is looking for the Castor original. Everybody.

Silicon Valley (HBO, Sunday 10:00 p.m.) — Richard and his crew wait to find out if Pied Piper will live or if they’ll die after last week’s f*ck-up/revelation.

Veep (HBO, Sunday 10:30 p.m.) — It’s election night and Selena and whoever is left on her staff that hasn’t been scapegoated, driven away, or indicted watch the returns come in. What will happen? Don’t assume that the show’s continuing future means that Selina will win — Veep could be just as entertaining with Selina ruling the free world as it would be if she was a lame duck President or a former President desperately seeking relevancy.

Late Night Guests: Lena Dunham and Colin Quinn on Jimmy Fallon.
