‘The Big Bang Theory’ At Comic-Con Revealed That Amy And Sheldon Might Be Doomed

If you’ve been keeping up with CBS’ The Big Bang Theory (millions of people are, you know…) you’ll remember that season 8 ended with a huge cliffhanger where Amy (Mayim Bialik) decided to “take a break” from Sheldon (Jim Parsons) because things weren’t moving fast enough. Painfully ironic because Sheldon was preparing to propose.

Well, there’s good news and bad news for fans (again, millions). The good news is that, while at Comic-Con, executive producer Steven Molaro promised that “the answer will be in the premiere episode of season 9.” So you won’t have to wait long to see what happens next for “Shamy” unless you’re the “watch it in the background on TBS three years after it originally aired” kind of Big Bang fan (millions!)

The bad news is, of course, that it could truly be the end of the awkward, but sometimes charming couple. Perhaps in a very special episode where Amy’s new friend, as played by Jenna Von Oy, helps her through this difficult breakup.

Mayim Bialik, who made a surprise appearance at the panel along with Kunal Nayyar, had nothing but good things to say about her character’s relationship with Sheldon. She also talked about the amount of detail that goes into creating their more intimate moments.

“It feels weird to qualify it like, ‘It’s great,'” Bialik said of these moments. “Whenever Sheldon and Amy have intimacy, it’s usually very specific. It’s very gently placed.” The words “fiery,” and “passionate” were nowhere to be found. Yeah, these crazy kids are gonna be alright.

If you want to see what’s next, season 9 of The Big Bang Theory can be viewed on CBS on Monday, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. EST.
