The Casting For The Upcoming ‘O.C.’ Musical Just Got Meta As Hell

The O.C. Musical is a thing that is definitely, actually happening, as evidenced by the handful of official-sounding announcements that have hit the press in the last week or two, and the fact that they have started casting a few of the roles. None of the big ones — your Ryans, Seths, Marissas, and Summers — have been locked in yet, but there is one I’d like to single out real-quick: Autumn Reeser will play Julie Cooper. TAYLOR TOWNSEND IS PLAYING JULIE COOPER, PEOPLE. It’s okay if you don’t care about this, because I care enough for both of us. Us Weekly has the other announced cast:

Reeser will star alongside The Flash‘s Rick Cosnett as Sandy Cohen, Step By Step‘s Christine Lakin as Kirsten Cohen, and Disney’s Drew Seeley as “Welcome to The O.C, bitch” himself, Luke Ward. The show will feature iconic songs from the TV show, so be prepared for some Death Cab For Cutie, Imogen Heap, Mazzy Star, and, of course, some Phantom Planet.

So there’s that. The O.C. Musical runs one night only, August 30, at Sterling’s Upstairs at the Federal Bar in North Hollywood. I hope they cast a giant pile of trash in a pastel Lacoste shirt as Oliver.
