Ranking The Most Obvious Moments From This Week’s ‘True Detective’

While that one reveal at the beginning of this week’s True Detective seemed all the more obvious after a week of internet scrutiny (and a lazy TV Guide summary), I wondered if it was the most straightforward aspect of the episode. Short answer: Yes, but one came pretty close to topping it. Let’s take a look at the most notable moments, going from least straightforward to “Velcoro’s alive.”

Trollop Toss

Pretty random in terms of “Well, I wasn’t expecting to see that today,” not so much in that particular scene.

Firebomb’d Car

The actual firebombing was kinda random. The resulting scene of Velcoro falling behind to save Bezzerides, not so much.

Semyon Beat Up That Fat Guy

New guard challenging the old, old guard being more in shape than the sloppy new one

Woodrugh Had A Three-Day Experience

Looks like we have the reasoning behind the blue pill-popping, the “fag” talk, and his staring at those dudes last week. If it weren’t for all the internet speculation over Velcoro, this would probably top the list.

Velcoro’s Alive

I’m at my limit with these cliffhanger “deaths.” At least True Detective had the decency to not use it on the season finale.
