Will Smith Is Working On A Reboot Of ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’

In the least surprising news since Full House was revived, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is being… revived. Or so Will Smith hopes. DJ Jazzy Jeff’s better half is trying to bring back the 1990s sitcom that helped turn him into a superstar, except, this time, he’d only produce, not star.

According to multiple sources, Smith’s production shingle, Overbrook Entertainment, is in the very early stages of developing a present-day Fresh Prince reboot that puts a new spin on the fish-out-of-water tale while maintaining the spirit of the original series.

Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, would also be a producer.

This news explains why Alfonso Ribeiro hasn’t stopped doing the Carlton since the (occasionally heartbreaking) series went off the air in 1996; he’s been auditioning for 2 Fresh 2 Prince. It’s unknown at this time who’d play the titular prince, assuming the show makes it to air (or Netflix), but I have a few guesses: Jaden Smith, Jaden Smith, or Jaden Smith.

With a theme song by Willow Smith, obviously.
