‘Law & Order: SVU’ Will Take On Robert Durst And ‘The Jinx’ In Its Season Premiere

The events surrounding the HBO docu-series The Jinx were basically an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit come to life. There was a wealthy deranged suspect, multiple alleged murders, a confession under preposterous circumstances, and an ensuing media frenzy. The only thing missing was Ice-T. (This has always been my primary complaint about The Jinx, for the record.) With that in mind, the question wasn’t so much “Will SVU be doing a Robert Durst episode this season?” as it was “How long will SVU wait to do a Robert Durst episode this season?” And the answer to that question is…

NOT LONG. Or, more accurately, they won’t wait at all, as the long-running series will do a Durst-themed episode in the two-hour premiere of its 17th season. (Fun visual: Imagine all the SVU writers furiously texting each other during the finale of The Jinx. Their thumbs must have been so tired!) As you can see in the above preview, the episode features Dallas Roberts returning as killer Greg Yates, as well as the following things:

  • Body parts in trash bags!
  • A creepy closet full of wigs!
  • Body parts in suitcases!

Yup, we’re going full SVU on this one. I can’t wait until Ice-T finds out about the burping.
