Late Night’s Current Crop Of Hosts Have Some Advice For Stephen Colbert

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert officially begins tonight! The studio is ready, the show has been tested, and Colbert is going to let the world see what he can really do when he isn’t playing a character. But as with anyone starting a new, high profile gig, there is always a possibility that Colbert could use some advice from people who are currently doing similar gigs. Courtesy of Vanity Fair, the whole gang — James Corden, Conan O’Brien, Bill Maher, Seth Meyers, Larry Wilmore, and Trevor Noah — has some advice that Colbert can follow at his discretion.

But here’s the thing about these guys giving advice to Stephen Colbert: with the exception of Conan and Maher, doesn’t Colbert have more late night hosting experience than most of these guys? And Noah hasn’t even started hosting yet! What’s this late night fetus even doing in this video — though his advice about watching what you tweet is pretty sound, even while Colbert has played that game before. (Because the internet is a mound of fragile, special snowflakes.) But if Noah was there, Samantha Bee should have been asked, too.

I think Conan’s advice is pretty decent, though. I would like to see what Colbert would do with some tracts of land. Probably build his own Shire. Or something charitable.
