Your Saturday night may have included drinks with friends or a not-so-romantic stint in front of the television set, but whatever ended up happening, it certainly did not top the outstanding evening had by the Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick. The always effusive Hardwick, who plucked up an Emmy (Best Creative Achievement in Interactive Media for his @Midnight show) early on in the evening, put an exclamation point on the night by proposing to his lady.

For those not in the know, Hardwick has been dating heiress Lydia Hearst since December 2014. They seem like an unlikely couple, but Hardwick has always been a charming nerd, and now he’s living the ultimate nerd dream. He and Lydia hooked up soon after he split with Chloe Dykstra. One thing led to another, and Lydia shared the happy news on her own Instagram page.

I said YES!!!!!! Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite. You completely swept me off my feet. You have shown me what it feels like to be loved and I love you with all my heart. My life is better because you are in it @nerdist.

These two are insanely happy together, and it’s impossible not to feel their palpable joy oozing over the Internet. For his part, Hardwick posted a shot of Lydia’s insane engagement ring. Get this — he didn’t even have to buy this rock. Lydia’s mother, Patty Hearst, “graciously and wonderfully passed it down” for Hardwick to give to Lydia. What a lucky guy.
