Nicole Arbour Defended Her ‘Dear Fat People’ Video On ‘The View,’ And It Did Not Go Well

Nicole Arbour’s tour of internet terror continues with her latest addition to the “Dear Fat People” viral-video saga. In early September, Arbour launched herself with a “satiric” video, which offended many because she ripped into overweight people and offered up comebacks such as “whaddya gonna do, chase me?” Arbour reveled in the attention until she got fired from an anti-body-shaming film because she no longer matched up with the director’s vision.

Arbour visited ABC’s The View on Wednesday. Surely, she knew she wasn’t there to make friends, especially after she came out swinging into the public’s consciousness. The gist of the conversation was that Arbour believes men would have been able to make the video and get away with everything. Arbour tried to make The View believe she framed “Dear Fat People” as an equality anthem. Arbour only wants the same opportunities as bad male comedians, but these ladies didn’t buy the justification.

Whoopi Goldberg started the conversation by asking the self-styled comedian whether she was aware people would be offended by the video. Arbour offered up a jokey statement about how she’s more offended by her own pink-tinted hair in the clip. Whoopi was not impressed: “Babe, babe, babe, you’re here, this is your shot. So, did you expect to offend people?”

“Yeah! One hundred percent. One hundred percent. That video was made to offend people just the way I do with all the other videos. It’s just satire. I’m just being silly. I’m having a bit of fun and that’s what we did and that topic was actually voted in by fans, some of them who are fat.”

Joy Behar, professional comedian, wasn’t interested in Arbour’s excuses at all.

“I’m a comic, so if I’m gonna do a joke about a fat person, I’m gonna say, ‘I’m fat’ first. You’re not fat. That’s the problem. And you sort of hide behind this, ‘Well, it’s not healthy.’ That’s bull, and you know it. You don’t care about their health. Come on.”

Arbour persisted in saying she was only joking, and she can make fun of herself, too. She demonstrates this ability by calling herself “side-chick Barbie.” Arbour did not convince anyone at The View. Oh, and here’s something that might bug the hardcore rockers amongst you. Sammy Hagar was on hand backstage. This happened, plus another unlikely hug.
