Last week, the internet justifiably kind of freaked out when Sofia Vergara posed for an Instagram selfie dressed up as the legendary white trash television matriarch, Peg Bundy. Of course, her current Modern Family onscreen husband is played by Ed O’Neill, who starred as Al Bundy on Married… with Children, which left us all to wonder: WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
The cat is now out of the bag, as Vergara revealed last night to Jimmy Kimmel that the photo was taken as part of a special issue of the Hollywood Reporter listing Hollywood’s 100 favorite TV shows. She tells Jimmy that her co-star was excited at the shoot and that “he told me how to pose.” Vergara also says that she was a fan of Married… with Children in her native Colombia, however, finally meeting O’Neill in person was a bit of a letdown because the Spanish-dubbed version of the series had Al Bundy speaking with a very sexy, “Antonio Banderas type of voice.” No wonder Peg was so horny all the time.
THR’s list of Hollywood’s 100 Favorite TV Shows issue comes out Wednesday, and features the Modern Family cast recreating many iconic television series such as Breaking Bad and Cheers.
