Trevor Noah Explains Bringing His Global Perspective On Comedy To ‘The Daily Show’

Trevor Noah starts his tenure as host of The Daily Show at the end of the month, attempting to fill the tiny big shoes of departing host Jon Stewart. While people have been focused on his old tweets and his lack of U.S. hosting experience, it’s often been overlooked that Noah has hosted a news show in the past. This tidbit and more came up during his interview with Stephen Colbert, a guy who knows a thing or two about continuing a late-night host’s legacy (and filling in for The Daily Show).

Noah brought up the difficulties of doing a weekly show without rights to pictures and video, cracking jokes on a government that only started allowing jokes in 1990 (before then, you might end up in prison), and explaining how he’ll keep The Daily Show focused on ‘murican issues while keeping a global perspective intact. However, there was one point that made me feel a lot more comfortable about his upcoming hosting stint. When bringing up the recent GOP debates, Noah managed to sum up all the candidates’ positions in a way that would’ve saved everybody three hours, give or take a Trump GIF.
