What’s On Tonight: Trevor Noah Has Some Big Shoes To Fill On ‘The Daily Show’

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (Comedy Central, 11 p.m.) – We all knew this was coming. Jon Stewart’s replacement is taking his turn behind The Daily Show desk tonight. Either Trevor Noah — that guy from South Africa who seems to have a knack for pissing people off on Twitter – will be able to fill the big shoes left behind by his predecessor (he is a foreigner, and that’s usually comedic gold when it comes to making fun of quintessentially American things like, for instance, batsh*t crazy presidential candidates), or he’ll crash and burn in glorious fashion. We’ll watch no matter what because both scenarios make for good TV, but with Kevin Hart as Noah’s first guest, at least he won’t have to work too hard to make the interview portion of the show funny.

Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8 p.m.) – Contestants dance to numbers celebrating iconic TV shows and Carlton Banks — Alfonso Ribeiro to his loved ones — guest judges.

Gotham (Fox, 8 p.m.) – Gordon’s more than a little interested in the Arkham Asylum escape because his crazy ex-girlfriend is one of the inmates now on the loose and ready to terrorize his current lady-love. Meanwhile, Bruce – who’s pretty stoked about finally figuring out how to open that door to the bat cave – continues to learn more about his father’s secret plans.

The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8 p.m.) – For some reason, Penny thinks she’ll feel better if Leonard meets up with the woman he made out with while out at sea, so he pays the lucky lady a visit. Sheldon, on the other hand, is dealing with his break-up by shooting an episode of “Fun with Flags.”

The Voice (NBC, 8 p.m.) – Blind auditions continue and Rihanna still hasn’t shown up.

Life in Pieces (CBS, 8:30 p.m.) – Matt catches Joan and John in the act, so Joan thinks organizing a family meeting is the appropriate response; Jen decides she needs a little Mothering 101 and hires a couple of breast-feeding consultants; and Heather and Tim enlist some ex-cons to help them with their move.

Awkward (MTV, 9 p.m.) – Tamara’s fake engagement is still on, so of course Jenna must throw her a party while she simultaneously digs for info after Gabby spills a secret about Matty.

Minority Report (Fox, 9 p.m.) – In case, like me, you were pleasantly surprised with how not awful this show turned out to be last week, you can tune in tonight as Dash and Vega partner up to track down a lovelorn killer.

Scorpion (CBS, 9 p.m.) – Another woman from Cabe’s past needs the team’s help – spoiler: he was a real ladies’ man in his day – so the gang heads to Cuba to catch a Serbian war criminal.

NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS, 10 p.m.) – Deeks introduces Kensi to his mother while DEA agent Talia Del Campo goes to the team for help after her partner is murdered.

Blindspot (NBC, 10 p.m.) – One of Jane’s tattoos helps identify an Air Force pilot who’s up to no good. Meanwhile, Jane finds herself remembering and unsettling event, and Weller thinks he may have finally figured out who this chick is.

Castle (ABC, 10 p.m.) – The season eight opener ends with a look at Beckett’s disappearance from her own eyes as she fights for her life and tries to learn the identity of her captor(s).

LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Matt Damon and Priyanka Chopra on Kimmel; Rob Lowe, Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs and Hozier on Fallon; Michelle Obama, Mindy Kaling and John Legend on Colbert; Cindy Crawford, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Awolnation on Meyers; Carol Burnett, Fred Savage and Marcia Gay Harden on Corden; Kevin Hart on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah; and Terry Crews and Jenna Coleman on Conan.
