Anthony Bourdain Thinks His Latest Tattoo Was A Really Bad Idea

World traveler and fellow Archer enthusiast Anthony Bourdain stopped by The Late Show to promote his graphic novel, as well his CNN series Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Bourdain had a clip for an upcoming Parts Unknown episode in Borneo, where he thought it would be a great idea to get a hand-tap tattoo on his chest. I wasn’t familiar with the process, and cringed a little when seeing it play out.

Going by the voice-over, it felt just as bad as it looked.

If you were wondering, by the way, if this hurts, two guys hammering away at my sternum with a bamboo club and sharp needles, yes. Yes, it hurt a lot. And you can be damn sure that if I wasn’t on television while it was happening, I’d be whimpering and yelping like a gut-shot poodle.

Bourdain would go on to elaborate that the whole process took two hours, in part because the artists were “really drunk.” When asked if he was glad that he got the tattoo, Bourdain quickly remarked that the painful ordeal was “really, really stupid.” It seems like the type of activity that requires a trip to Waffle House, which he was also recently introduced to.
