Emilia Clarke Is The Sexiest Woman (And Mother Of Dragons) Alive

R.I.P. Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis, and Rihanna. There’s a new Sexiest Woman Alive in town and her name’s motherf*cking Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen [takes deep breath], Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.

Esquire bestowed the honor of Least Unattractive Female Who’s Still Breathing to the Game of Thrones star, who begins her profile by apologizing for shouting. She attended a Metallica concert the night before; Lars and the boys are huge GoT fans, and Clarke got comped tickets. But you’re not reading this to learn about celebrity perks, or reading this at all, probably, so maybe this will peak your interest. The scene: A corny event called “GAME OF PHONES” where Clarke has gone undercover as “Lily.”

On the hunt for the Iron Phone, the marketing director starts to tell a story about Game of Thrones, something he read in the paper about a father who hears his daughter has just gotten a part on the show. He feels tremendously proud and excited until he sees the first few scripts and finds out what she has to do: full frontal nudity, lots of sex. Maybe even a rape scene.

“It’s not porn, it’s HBO,” someone chips in.

I don’t know what Emilia—Lilly—is thinking now. But I know the story, too. The early episodes were hard to film, she’d told me in the cab. There was a lot of nudity, a rape scene, she was 23 years old, exposing her body. Her character suffered and she suffered with her. “Once, I had to take a little time out. I said I needed a cup of tea, had a bit of a cry, and was ready for the next scene.”

Now she waits a beat.

“That must be awkward,” Lilly says.

She’s funny. She mucks in. (Via Esquire)

The Sexiest Woman title is hers and she will take it. Look out, Penelope.
