James Corden Opened ‘The Late Late Show’ With Some Moving Thoughts On The Oregon Shootings

Before going into his usual Late Late Show antics, the usually fun and bubbly James Corden cold opened his show with a thought-provoking monologue on Thursday’s mass shooting in Oregon. Late-night hosts rarely alter their openings to cover something serious, but a somber Corden offered his thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families before going on with the show and attempting to be funny.

Obviously it tends to be a chore at this point considering all the national moments we’ve had to deal with over the past few years, but Corden provides a message that seemed to be missing across late night on Thursday night. While there isn’t a call for some sort of Jon Stewart-type move in the wake of the shootings in Charleston, it is still nice to see some acknowledgment to the events that still quake the public consciousness.
