Watch Stephen Colbert Geek Out With Neil deGrasse Tyson And Seth MacFarlane

Stephen Colbert has proven time and time again that he has no qualms about unleashing his nerdier side on viewers. It was bound to happen again last night with Neil deGrasse Tyson and Seth MacFarlane on the show, and Colbert did not disappoint. As the three of them geek out (Colbert in a Tyson-inspired waistcoat natch) about liquid water on Mars and everything else that is out there, Colbert posits that one of his favorite books, ’70s sci-fi “Ringworld” by Larry Niven, had actually come to pass and that Ringworld had been found. While Tyson charmingly shuts him down, it is clear to see that Colbert is still a true believer. Plus, MacFarlane cracks a solid Star Trek joke, making himself approximately 43 percent more likeable.

Tyson was also on Late Night to plug his new show Star Talk on National Geographic, and discusses having guests on his show who have an unexpected “tender geek underbelly.” Due to his smooth voice and oddly sensual hand gestures, things get sexy fast. Sunday night is already crowded as it is, but it sounds like Tyson’s show will be a fun addition.
