‘The Simpsons’ Has Inspired Some Australians To Give A New Name To The Nation’s Currency

It’s hard to truly calculate how much The Simpsons have influenced the modern world. Younger generations may only know of the show as “that crap that’s on before Family Guy” or “yellow people, something something, texting.” Young people have their ways. Needless to say, though, the show has been a piece of culture that carries a lot of weight, even still today.

That’s where a new petition comes into play, using The Simpsons to bring about a change in the Australian currency that any fan or even-tempered individual could get behind. Here’s the description according to Change.org:

Due to global commodity prices plummeting, the Australian economy is struggling. That’s why we need something to stimulate the Australian economy and that something is changing the name of the Australian currency to ‘Dollarydoos’. This will make millions of people around the world want to get their hands on some Australian currency due to the real life Simpsons reference, driving up the value of the Australian currency. If the leaders of this great nation have any common sense at all, they will introduce legislation to parliament to change the name of our currency as soon as possible. So please sign this petition to get our nations leaders to finally act on this important issue.

While we’re at it, can we get frogs changed to “chazwazzas.” Frog is such a boring name in comparison and Australian names would spice things up a bit. My only concern is that by Australianizing the name of the money, are we also upping its deadliness? Will money now be able to murder folks, possibly with pull out blades? Things just got scary.
