Netflix Sent Out A Hilarious ‘Warning’ To All Those Who Find Joy In Spreading Spoilers

With the rise of streaming television and overloaded DVRs, people rarely, if ever, watch TV right when it airs anymore, which makes avoiding spoilers basically a professional sport. Staying off Twitter, alerting your friends where you are in a series, and blocking out articles about the show are all viable strategies for making sure you don’t find out about that major death or surprise proposal before it’s time. There’s always the chance, however, that you will find out a show’s secrets before you get to that particular episode through no fault of your own, so Netflix is warning people in a creative way to be careful before they speak.

In a mob-inspired new commercial, a man is covered in honey and about to be thrown into a pit of rats for the unforgivable sin of revealing key plot details about Orange Is The New Black. Any reasonable fan knows that this is an appalling thing to do (the spoiling, not the punishment) and the reason friendships are destroyed, so kudos to Netflix for stepping up and supplying this easy-to-share message to deter those who may treat spoiling TV shows as nothing more than a normal Wednesday hobby. Next time someone thinks about chatting you up about a Game of Thrones episode past where you’re at, just show them this video and imply you might know someone who can…take care of people who are so careless with plot details.
