Watch The Simple, Yet Lovely ‘SNL’ Tribute To The People Of Paris

The first SNL episode after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting opened with the New York City Children’s Chorus singing “Silent Night.” It struck just the right tone, as did the show’s 9/11 tribute (“Can we be funny now?” “Why start now?) and tonight’s tribute to the attacks in Paris.

In lieu of a traditional cold open, out came Cecily Strong who solemnly said, “Paris is the City of Light, and here in New York City, we know that light will never go out. Our love and support is with everyone there tonight. We stand with you.” She then repeated the message in French before delivering the standard, “And now, live from New York, it’s Saturday night.”

Simple, lovely.
