Marvel’s Jessica Jones (Netflix, now available) — Krysten Ritter shines as a kick ass retired superhero-turned-detective in this brand new Netflix series. Seeing how Daredevil was as great as it was, the neo-noir Jessica Jones should be able to match that outstanding quality.
The Knick (Cinemax, Friday 10 p.m.) — Bertie takes matters into his own hands while Lucy is trying to, ahem, get hers on an invite to a fancy gala.
American Music Awards (ABC, Sunday 8 p.m.) — Jennifer Lopez will host (and perform) as most of the industry’s biggest stars turn out for, like, the third or fourth biggest night in music.
The Simpsons (FOX, Sunday, 8 p.m.) — Lisa becomes a child star after Homer loses a poker game and lends her to Laney Fontaine for a month in order to settle his debt. Father of the Year, everybody.
Sunday Night Football (NBC, Sunday 8:20 p.m.) — Who’d have thought that this Bengals-Cardinals matchup would be a powerhouse game with serious playoff implications? Probably not even Andy Dalton’s mom, but it is.
Madam Secretary (CBS, Sunday 8:30 p.m.) — Elizabeth, Russell and Mike conspire to give the national security advisor the boot without any of the backlash trickling down toward the president’s feet.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX, Sunday 8:30 p.m.) — Terry’s pregnant wife swings by the precinct just in time for her water to break while he’s visiting Rikers. Jake probably has everything under control though, right? Right?!
Family Guy (FOX, Sunday 9 p.m.) — Quagmire confesses his love to Lois, but does so with Peter on the line after accidentally pocket-dialing him. Should have just slid into her DMs, man.
The Leftovers (HBO, Sunday 9 p.m.) — The other shoe — or, more aptly, dozens of other shoes drop after Kevin vanquished Patti.
Homeland (Showtime, Sunday, 9 p.m.) — Carrie’s life hangs in the balance as she pleads with Allison to go back through old case files because she’s, like, finally sick of having to look over her shoulder.
The Good Wife (CBS, Sunday, 9:30 p.m.) — Diane has to argue against her personal stance on abortion in order to retain an important client and it’s not sitting well with her.
The Last Man on Earth (FOX, Sunday 9:30 p.m.) — Phil 2 swims upstream and ends up in the same boat as Tandy, which is not exactly the boat he was hoping to end up in.
CSI: Cyber (CBS, Sunday 10 p.m.) — Things get personal when the FBI’s most-wanted cyber criminal kills an Interpol agent who happens to be Avery’s bestie.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO, Sunday, 11 p.m.) — After putting daily fantasy sports on blast last week, John Oliver wraps up his second incredible season with one final new episode in which he enlightens the American electorate and makes funny bird jokes, probably.
Late Night — Michael Caine, Larry Wilmore, Boots and Vulfpeck on Colbert; Gordon Ramsay, Billie Lourd, Randy Syphax and Erykah Badu on Fallon.
