This British Smartphone Commercial Was Banned From Television For Objectifying Women

The objectification of women in the media is a major hot-button issue these days, and with good reason. In the U.K., a new smartphone commercial has been banned following complaints that the ad objectifies women. Thusly, Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority claimed the above commercial as being “sexually suggestive.”

Said the ASA:

Much of the ad focused entirely on the actor in her underwear, including scenes that featured several close-up shots that lingered over her breasts, buttocks and lips, which we considered were sexually suggestive. (via THR)

Of course the ban hasn’t stopped the manufacturer from placing the ad online, where the ASA has no authority. But, don’t expect to be seeing this one back on U.K. television screens anytime soon.
