Agents of SHIELD wrapped up a great first half of the season full of experimental episodes, great twists, and some understated badassery. So now it just has the unenviable job of following it up with an equally as good latter half! But it looks up to the challenge.
When we last left our heroes, Fitz had just shot the corpse of his romantic rival in the head with a flare gun (for noble reasons, but good luck explaining that one, Fitz), Coulson had just murdered Ward in cold blood, and they both escaped the wasteland planet Simmons had been stranded on for months. Problems solved! Except, uh, Ward’s corpse was taken over by a brain slug and it escaped onto our world too. And it wants to build an army of Inhumans. And Ward, who was never exactly Mr. Stable in the first place, might still be rattling around in there and might also want another crack at Coulson.
Oh, and if that weren’t enough, there are still random Inhumans popping up everywhere, Dr. Garner aka the Inhuman-eating Inhuman Lash is still on the loose, and a splinter of HYDRA commanded by Powers Boothe is just a wee bit homicidally upset with SHIELD.
