Steve Harvey returns for a sequel to the most entertaining Tonight Show segment of the Jimmy Fallon era — Tonight Show Family Feud — and this time Alison Brie is along to anchor Jimmy Fallon’s team and take on The Roots. Considering most of the games on The Tonight Show usually involve beer pong or driving around the backstage area, this is refreshing. Also, despite some of his other thoughts and public portrayals, Steve Harvey lecturing people about their weird and ridiculous answers is pretty funny.
The fact that Steve Harvey has taken Family Feud back to the top of the game show rankings is proof that people love to see him reacting to almost anything. The game show part of the show is essentially a non-factor. If they called this segment, “Steve Harvey yells at The Roots for five minutes,” I might still be tempted to watch.
Much like Steve, Alison Brie just needed to be involved for her presence to be felt. She didn’t even get a chance to answer anything, but she still managed to make a mark. I’m not entirely sure what it is, but there’s just something about her.
It’s intensity. That’s it.
