AMC Cancels ‘The Killing’

After two seasons, dozens of red herrings, and gallons upon gallons of fake rain, AMC has decided to cancel The Killing. Their official statement:

“After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season. AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”

Entertainment Weekly also has a statement from Fox, the production company behind the The Killing, that says they plan to “try to find another home for the show,” but I sincerely hope that does not happen. Some of the cast, Mireille Enos in particular, is entirely too good to be chained to this sinking ship for another season. The whole thing was a mess from the start, and Veena Sud got a second season mainly so she could tie up the loose ends she left lying around after the first, and now she sort of did that and it’s time to go.

I still believe the show could have been a huge hit if they revealed the killer at the end of the first season, and it was an evil koala who wore a fedora and trench coat. No one would have seen it coming.
