During Amy Schumer’s Tuesday night appearance on The Tonight Show, she gushed to Jimmy Fallon about her adorable new boyfriend Ben Hanisch, and how the story of them dating went viral due to the fact that the internet was shocked that Amy Schumer had found someone to date her who “had all of his teeth.” She also spoke about her beau’s family; specifically Hanisch’s mother Deb, a woman who she compares to the ladies on The Bachelor due to her endearing quality of being overly excitable about everything, all of the time. “Whenever they walk into a hotel room, it’s like they’ve never seen one before? They’re like ‘WAAAAAAH! A couch!’ They’re like, ‘a mug!’ So she’s like that, at dinner she’s like, ‘Bottled water!'”
To that extent, Schumer says she had to warn Deb about the press calling and showing up at the house after the media caught wind that she and Hanisch were dating, attempting to teach her possible future mother-in-law about the art of the “no comment.” Unfortunately Deb may have overcompensated, because Schumer says that “not even 10 minutes later” she received a Google alert from Time that Deb had apparently told the outlet that she had “never heard of her before in [her] life.”
On the plus side… It’s better than being overexposed? And it sounds like she’s got herself a muse for new comedy material, at the very least.
