‘Another Period’ Gets A Second Season On Comedy Central

Break out the cocaine wine! With the 10-episode first season wrapping up soon, Comedy Central has gone ahead and ordered a second season of Another Period to air in 2016. Following the lives of the Bellacourt sisters, rich, worthless, and fame-hungry debutants living in Rhode Island high society in 1902, the show hilariously skewers the modern lifestyles of the ultra rich through the lens of history (very, very loosely), and takes aim at both the popular period pieces and reality television of today. Basically, it’s Downton Abbey with more incest, eating disorders, and Helen Keller. Comedy Central original programming president Ken Alterman seemed pleased by the renewal, releasing the following statement: “Another Period is a beautiful reflection of a great American truth: The more things change, the more they stay the same.”

It’s always nice when genuinely funny people succeed, and Another Period has a stacked deck of talent. Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome created, star in, and executively produce the show, while Lauren Ash, Michael Ian Black, Paget Brewster, Beth Dover, Brett Gelman, Christina Hendricks, Brian Huskey, David Koechner, Jason Ritter, David Wain and Armen Weitzman all co-star. It will be exciting to see who else pops up in season two.
