Last week on Arrow, Ollie revealed that he’s been a terrible mayor, but has become a lot more fun to watch since he went homicidal again. But Thea, reasonably, doesn’t want to go around killing people, so Ollie needs to recruit a new team of vigilantes. But while he’s got plenty of volunteers, they’re not exactly battle-ready.
The season premiere last week was a welcome return to form for Arrow, complete with a shoutout to the pilot episode when Ollie snapped a corrupt cop’s neck. We also got to see another Walking Dead actor, Chad L. Coleman, pop up as Tobias Church, very much of the classic bad guy school where he has an escape helicopter and an old-fashioned desire to kill Arrow so he can run a major crime ring. Also Ollie beat the crap out of some poor sucker with an IKEA chair.
This episode, we’ll meet the new kids and watch Ollie beat them up, and maybe Wild Dog will explain why he’s willing to train under a guy that shot him in the leg in the premiere. Will Ollie find a new team of scrappy recruits? Will they very reasonably point out that maybe he should train the SWAT team Quentin found for him? We’ll find out tonight at 8 p.m. EST on the CW. Join us, won’t you?
