First ‘Baskets’ Trailer Features Zach Galifianakis As The Worst French Rodeo Clown Ever

All the way back in August 2014, the world found out that Zach Galifianakis and Louis C.K. were going to create a new show for FX. Titled Baskets, FX delayed releasing any footage until September 2015, when the network finally debuted Baskets‘ first clip. Now the first full trailer is out, and it’s everything fans of Galifianakis, Louis and FX’s well-populated slate of unique, eclectic programming could have hoped for.

FX also released a new, more detailed synopsis for the series:

Chip Baskets (Zach Galifianakis) wants to follow his dream of being a French clown — however, reality keeps interfering. Saddled with financial difficulties and facing an impenetrable language barrier, he moves back home to Bakersfield with high hopes. There, he is forced to confront his past while working as a rodeo clown and competing with his siblings for his mother’s approval and affection.

In addition to Galifianakis, Baskets also features Martha Kelly as Martha, Chip’s insurance claims adjuster, assistant and friend; Sabina Sciubba as Penelope, Chip’s French Bohemian wife; and Ernest Adams as Eddie, Chip’s boss at the rodeo. In addition to co-creating the show, Galifianakis and Louis serve as executive producers alongside Jonathan Krisel, the 10-episode series’ director.

Is it just me, or does “Zach Galifianakis the Clown” have a nice ring to it? Anybody? Baskets premieres on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
