Here Are The Best Holiday Moments From ‘Saturday Night Live’

You can’t think about the holidays without thinking about schweddy balls, that is if you’re an SNL junkie. Throughout the show’s many, many seasons, some of the best sketches have aired during Saturday Night Live‘s christmas specials.

Schweddy balls aside, Adam Sandler created one of the most memorable holiday moments with his Hannukah song, which became the ninth best-selling holiday digital download of all time and #1 best-selling Hanukkah songs (take that, “Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel”). He’s even still releasing new parts. Another song skit, “I Wish It Was Christmas Today,” has been revived eight times since its original performance in 2000. “Dick in A Box” tops them all, the hit viral video winning an Emmy in 2007.

A personal favorite is the lost ending of It’s A Wonderful Life, where George Bailey and the gang find out that Potter had the missing money all along. Just hearing the line “I don’t want the money, I want a piece of you, Potter” before Mary stomps on the old man is enough to warm any heart during this cold season. Another classic: Matt Foley as a motivational Santa.

This year, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will be co-hosting the holiday episode, so we should expect another few moments of magic. What is your favorite holiday SNL sketch?
