Back in November, in an interview with IGN, Bob Odenkirk touched on the idea that his Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul could be both a sequel and a prequel. Today, showrunner Peter Gould elaborated on that a bit more, indicating that the series could jump around a bit chronologically, which would, in theory, give them a way to bring back your favorite characters who died by the end of the original, or who hadn’t met Saul Goodman by whatever place in time the prequel aspect of it jumps off from.

Executive producer Peter Gould says that the show will feature scenes that move back and forth over several decades, including the era where Walter White cooked and sold crystal meth. […]
“One of the great things about having a time line which is flexible is that perhaps some of it takes place before Breaking Bad, during Breaking Bad, and after Breaking Bad. That gives us the ability to bring back characters that were killed on Breaking Bad,” he says.
I know I should probably have some sort of critic-y opinion about this revelation and whether it’s good clean fun or attempted pandering to Breaking Bad fans, but I read the phrase “the show will feature scenes that move back and forth over several decades” and now the only thing I want in the entire world is for the series to open up in early-2015 by fading in from black to this exact image.
