DC Has ‘A Lot Of Plans’ For Booster Gold

One of DC’s most beloved cult characters is Booster Gold, the vainglorious time-traveling jock who manages to be the good guy despite himself. In many ways, he’s DC’s Deadpool, and it looks like that comparison is not lost on the DC higher-ups.

Comic Book quizzed DC’s creative head, Geoff Johns, about Booster’s future and his response, while vague, was telling:

You’ll see [Booster Gold] very soon, and there’s talks about…there’s actually a lot of plans for Booster Gold, one of my favorite characters. But yeah, Booster Gold fans, you will definitely be happy with what we’ve got coming up in the years ahead.

Rumors are already going around that a buddy-cop movie featuring Booster and his best friend Blue Beetle is in the works. Interestingly, before Johns gave the above response, he asked if they wanted to know about movies, TV, or comics, so we might be getting a whole bunch of Booster.

The most likely place he’ll turn up, though, is the CW. After all, DC has a time-travel series, Legends of Tomorrow, that just got renewed for a second season, and Booster’s critically acclaimed series had him protecting the timeline while pretending to be a bumbling doofus of a superhero. It’s a perfect fit, especially as Legends of Tomorrow is rather gleefully a straight comic book every week. Adding fuel to this fire is that Greg Berlanti, the architect of DC’s rapidly expanding superhero TV franchise, is involved in the aforementioned movie, and likely won’t have time to direct it until a decade from now at the rate the CW is going.

Although we wouldn’t turn down a Booster cameo in Batman V. Superman. We just don’t think he’d quite fit with the tone.
