Jake Peralta’s daddy issues might be undergoing a breakthrough soon. Bradley Whitford (Trophy Wife, The West Wing) has been announced as the man playing Captain Roger Peralta, the absentee father of Andy Samberg’s character on Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine. According to Entertainment Weekly, Whitford has signed on for at least one episode, the first of which is set to air Sunday, March 8. That is when Jake will be reunited with his airline pilot father for a father-son weekend in Brooklyn. Given that Whitford and Samberg are two of the best actors in the whole wide world (in my opinion), hilarity and heartwarming awkwardness will likely ensue.

Whitford recently made an appearance on Amazon’s Golden Globe-winning Transparent and will be playing Steve Coogan’s boss on Showtime’s Happyish, which was recently picked up to series.
