Broad City has a history of excellent guest stars, including Seth Rogen, Alia Shawkat, Patricia Clarkson, and, the greatest of them all, Kelly Ripa. As the hilarious third season progresses, more stars are sure to pop up, including presidential nominee/possibly the only person who can save us from Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton. Clinton tweeted a picture from the set in December, so fans knew that HRC would be making an appearance, but the cameo has yet to air.
However, the Broad City stars, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, told Seth Meyers on Late Night a little bit about meeting and filming with Clinton. As most people are when they meet their heroes, Jacobson and Glazer were a bit overwhelmed. Luckily for them, the scene they were shooting involves their characters meeting and fangirling over Clinton, so they go to play it off as “in character.” According to Jacobson,
“We were very lucky because the scene is Abbi and Ilana freaking out meeting Hillary Clinton, so we just got to freak out. We freaked out so hard to her face.”
While Clinton may not be the obvious choice (despite her frustrating use of youth-friendly slang on Twitter) to appear on a show where characters hide weed in their vaginas and visit Whole Foods with Bingo Bronson, Jacobson and Glazer have yet to make a comedic misstep. We look forward to whatever inappropriate remarks Ilana has in store.
