CBS Orders Robin Williams Comedy ‘Crazy Ones’ To Pilot

I don’t know how anyone expects me to focus on stupid industry news on a day when a hatchet-wielding hitchhiker saved a woman from a racist Jesus and yelled “SMASH SMASH SAAAAA-MASH” in the middle of an interview about it (NOTE: The post now has his the complete, unedited, NSFW footage from his interview, because YES), but I will do my best. CBS has ordered the Robin Williams comedy Crazy Ones, produced and written by David E. Kelley, to pilot.

For its part, Crazy Ones stars the Good Will Hunting Oscar winner in a comedy the world of advertising and marks Williams’ return to the small-screen 30 years after he starred for four seasons on ABC’s Mork & Mindy. The single-camera comedy revolves around a father-daughter relationship at home and at work and comes after Williams’ recent guest starring roles on FX’s Louie and Wilfred [THR].

This show is weird because I can’t figure out why Robin Williams would come back to television at this point in his careeNOPE CAN’T DO IT. NOT ON HATCHET-WIELDING HITCHHIKER DAY. NOT WHEN THERE’S A VIDEO OF HIM SHOUTING OUT DOGTOWN AND STARTING OUT HIS INTERVIEW WITH A FREAKING TEN SECOND MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH TO THE VIEWER. NOPE NOPE NOPE.

All apologies to everyone involved in Crazy Ones, but until someone from the show fights off a giant lunatic with the blunt end of a hatchet and cusses up a storm on the news, y’all are on the backburner today. Them’s the breaks.
