CBS’s ‘Supergirl’ Pilot Has Added Dean Cain And A Former ‘Supergirl’ To Its Cast

When it comes to Greg Berlanti-produced comic book fair, something the man seems to be a big fan of is casting fan favorite comic book alums in the currently running iterations of a particular character. In The Flash, he hired John Wesley Shipp and Mark Hamill (the original hero and villain, respectively), and he’s done it again for Supergirl, as it’s been confirmed that Helen Slater (the 1980s Supergirl) and Dean Cain (the 1990s Superman) have joined the cast for unspecified, top secret roles.

From TV Line:

Slater, of course, played Kara on the big screen in 1984’s Supergirl, while Cain starred as the Man of Steel in ABC’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. And both guest-starred on the WB/CW Superman drama Smallville, Slater in the role of Clark/Kal-El’s Krypton mom Lara, and Cain as the immortal Dr. Curtis Knox.

As the duo is being billed as guest stars, it seems possible they are either going to be one-off villains or allies that will have the possibility of growing into something more later on. Then again, if yesterday proved anything, it’s that Berlanti is full of surprises, so who knows what this could all mean for the future of the CBS series.
