CBS is finally ready to get on the horror-show train and make a show about zombies. But before you think were getting a network-friendly version of AMC’s The Walking Dead, remember that this is CBS we’re talking about here, home of CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Person of Interest, Elementary… You can probably see where I’m going: CBS is making another procedural drama. And it’s about a zombie detective. Welcome to your newest bingewatch!

Dead Mann Walking will be an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Stefan Petrucha and follow the story of a man — Hessius Mann in the book — who was wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife and executed. After new evidence was found that exonerated him, he was resurrected by the government, but came back as a zombie rather than a normal, fully-alive guy. From the sound of it, it sounds like quite a few people are resurrected thanks to this fancy, risky technology and zombies are now an entire underground class of people in this universe. Unfortunately for Mann, zombies are not looked upon too kindly by the living, so he encounters some resistance while trying to find the real killer of his wife.

It sounds hilarious! Or at least it would if the main character wasn’t so tragic.
