Last week, when a New York Post blind item stated that a womanizing Hollywood A-list actor was HIV positive and had been for years — with a list of exes including “an award-winning actress, a religious movie star, and a top Hollywood personality with a controversial past,” among others — it led many to speculate that the blind item was in fact about Charlie Sheen. The report stated that the source claimed that the actor in question had been long-since knowingly putting women at risk, which set off something of a panic.

It appears that the speculation may have been correct because the Today show announced Monday morning that Charlie Sheen will be appearing live on Tuesday to make a “revealing personal announcement.” It is expected that the actor will announce that he has, in fact, been diagnosed with HIV.

The source claimed that the actor in question is “distraught about the possibility of the illness becoming a defining quality of his career,” but with rumors swirling it makes sense that he would want to get ahead of it.
