Whoever Made The 'Community' Syndication Trailer Really Likes Boobs, Has Never Watched The Show

Before we get started I’d like to make it clear that I don’t go around watching syndication trailers on corporate websites looking for material. No, this was brought to my attention by a concerned fan in r/Community who maybe does go around watching syndication trailers. Secondly, the video in question isn’t actually in this post. It’s not embeddable. You can watch it here.

With all that out of the way let’s get to the point at hand: The Community syndication video — presumably made by Sony Pictures — does not exactly capture what hardcore fans love about the show. I mean, it might as well be a trailer for Spike TV original programming. The most notable offense is the presentation of the female characters. That portion starts at the :50 second mark and is sizzle reel of almost every sexy moment from the first three seasons, complete with this transcript:

Narrator: Check out the girls from Greendale community college.

Britta: Give me back my bra Annie.

Annie: Ugh, I’m not even wearing a bra.

Britta: Ugh.

Narrator: They’re competitive.

Britta: I’m sorry, I have to go. I just won a contest for being hot.

Narrator: They’re provocative.

Shirley: Please just step aside and make room for a new generation.

Narrator: And they drive the guys wild.

Britta: You know what else is sexy? Annie.

Narrator: Studying never looked this good.

Annie: Bring it in for a boob bump ladies.

So, um, yeah. Not exactly showcasing the full range of the female characters and/or actors.

Look, I’m a bit torn here. I’m certainly not going to get all hot and bothered in an idealistic nerd rage. My cold dark heart is long removed from having my principals offended by corporate interpretation. I mean, this is a syndication video. The whole idea is to sell it to the masses, and guess what sells?

But still. Holy sh*t shouldn’t you be required to at least watch an episode before putting something like this together? The creators of Franklin & Bash think this show looks vapidly bro-tastic. And I understand we were pretty much the originators of the Alison Brie GIF, but at least that was in balance with celebrating a show we love in its entirety.

Speaking of which, I feel like I need to make up for the lack of embed, so maybe this works?

I appreciate this because COMEDY and there’s a meta Ghost reference in there somewhere. Big big difference.
